Long Range Acoustic Device

 

Long Range Acoustic Devices are equipment that is used for projecting a audible voice or deterrent tone at a specific target at a distance dependent upon the device used. LRAD 500

Security measures that enhance force protection initiatives are of critical priority in today’s increased threat environment. In any opera­tional scenario, force protection tools must be easily accessible and deployable. 

 

                            

In close cooperation between American Technology Corporation and SurCom these requirements are met with a highly directional hailing, warning, and deterrent system, the Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD). The LRAD will deter any hostile intent towards own forces, using a directed and high output.  

  

The LRAD 500's can be used to clearly transmit critical information, instruc­tions, and warnings well beyond 300 meters. The system can also transmit powerful deterrent tones (145 dB at one meter) to influence behaviour or determine intent of a threat. The multi-lingual capability of the LRAD 500 also guarantees voice commands will be understood in any part of the world. 

     
Used in roadblocks, for crowd control, in hostage situations, harbour protection, it's applications are countless. This portable unit enhances force protection measures without exposing nearby personnel or peripheral bystanders to excessive audio levels. LRAD 1000

For increased capability with respect to the LRAD500, the LRAD 1000 provides audible speech upto 800 meters effectively, it's maximum range is approx 2000 meters.

LRADs are available with an extended frequency. It's nomenclature is than followed by an "x" (i.e. 500X or 1000X). In addition the LRAD-RX comes with an extended range of up to 1000 meters, an integrated camera, a high intensity searchlight and an IP-based remote operation.

In addition to the vehiceborne or tripod supported LRAD a manpack LRAD can be used anywhere, anytime in a matter of seconds. The LRAD 100X provides lightweight support immediately.
