Tactical Direct Mode Repeater

The Tactical Direct Mode Repeater combines SurCom's technical know-how with in-house design and built capabilities. TDMR provides the simple and affordable  solution to the interoperability challange of military units and rescue services. TDMR can be used simply for range extension but also for combining users with different media. This can be achieved where a fixed infrastructure is not in place.

The TDMR-2020 radio router is a modular intelligent audio interconnect system, housed in a rugged casing. The proven ACU-1000 is used for any combination of the following: LMR, APCO25, TETRA, TetraPolHF, VHF, Trunking systems, telephones (PSTN & GSM) and Satcom systems like Inmarsat. The unit connects a maximum of 24 users and a net control station (operator). Standard is 12 users and an operator. The self explanatory management software allows for a maximum of seven independent conversations to be carried out at the same time.

Voice prompts inform the user about the status, connectivity and operation. Noise reduction, voice modulation reduction, voice operated relay and conference calls are standard features. The TDMR-2020 allows for predetermined settings and configurations. Ad-hoc joining of new users/equipment is possible (on the spot), due to the extensive equipment database. It can be used in static and mobile situations as the casing is rugged and manportable. The power supply of the system can be 115/220VAC or 12/24VDC.

The technology used here also formed the basis for a succesful ATC system in use by NATO.
