For more than fifteen years Raytheon JPS Communications has developed technology to link mobile radios, cell phones, SATCOM, and regular phones in a single real-time communication system.

Because of JPS’ systems, police officers, firefighters, JPS offers a variety of system configurations to meet the demanding needs of first responders. Transportable, fixed site, mobile or wide area, JPS can configure a system to meet your needs. With the addition of VoIP connectivity, the ACU-1000 provides many key enhancement features including: easier setup and configuration, expansion capabilities via network connectivity, and a more powerful operating system |
The new available modules packetize the communications channels and transport them across a widearea IT backbone through the use of VoIP/RoIPTM technology. This state-of-the-art technology provides the means for regional, state, multi-state, and national interoperability systems to be linked together. Local Interoperability at a local level, first responders are responsible for ensuring real time communication across multiple platforms with a moments notice.
By converting communications signals into transmit/receive audio and its accompanying control signals, the ACU offers a rich set of operational features and wide scale adaptability with virtually any audio device, existing, new and future.
Interoperability between different communication systems (i.e. frequency bands) can easily be achieved by using interconnection equipment like the ACU1000, ACU2000SIP, the ACU-T and the ACU-M. Although these equipments can be used as a stand alone option, integration in a 19" rack and including variuos types of connectivity (like a GSM cell or PABX connect) is favoured. The differences between the mentioned equipment are that:
- the ACU-1000 simultaneously cross-connects 12 but up 24 different radio networks, connects radio networks to telephone systems, SATCOM or network PoIP/VoIP talkpaths.
- the ACU-2000 SIP uses the SIP protocol to combine different VoIP protocols;
- the ACU-T provides tactical packaging for five (but also scalable) connections. It is small, rugged and ideally suited for tactical use and easy to deploy;
- the ACU-M is a miniature ACU providing four audio ports and two VoIP channels.
